Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and buy much needed equipment for South Carolina State Guard personnel
On April 24, 2019, the South Carolina Legislature adopted resolutions proclaiming May 2019 as “South Carolina State Guard Month” in the Palmetto State.
Since 1670, the all-volunteer South Carolina State Guard has had "Boots on the Ground" protecting the Palmetto State and its residents. Originally founded to protect residents from foreign invaders and pirates, the South Carolina State Guard has evolved into a modern day natural disaster response and relief organization. South Carolina State Guard personnel serve as force multipliers ready to assist local, state, and federal emergency response agencies when dispatched across the State. In response to the recent hurricanes alone, State Guard personnel volunteered more than 90,000 hours providing essential support to South Carolina residents negatively impacted by these storms.
We now ask for your help raising funds for additional training, equipment and other necessities most often paid out-of-pocket by our volunteers while serving.
Throughout the month of May you have the opportunity to help us meet our fundraising goal of $350,000 by donating online or visiting a participating retail establishment.
You can make a secure online donation through the South Carolina State Guard Mission & Operations Support Foundation Website at scsgmops.org or visit us on Facebook at @SCStateGuard to donate there!
For a a minimum donation of $1 (or $5 or more!) to the "Boots on the Ground" #SCSGBoots campaign, you can write your name or the name of a loved one on the boot cutouts, and display your support of the South Carolina State Guard proudly at a participating establishment throughout the month.
HOW LONG DOES THE BOOTS ON THE GROUND CAMPAIGN RUN AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
The campaign runs throughout May with a $350,000 fundraising goal. As #SCSGBoots participating location, you will be provided with a display advertising campaign as well as paper boots to offer to the public for a minimum donation of $1 (however, we will accept larger donations). Patrons can write their name or the name of a loved one on the boots, which can then be displayed prominently and proudly in your establishment throughout the month. At the conclusion of the campaign, we will pick up the remaining boots and all collected funds.
WHERE DO DONATIONS GO? Are Donations Tax Deductible?
All tax-deductible donations raised from this campaign will be placed in the South Carolina State Guard Missions & Operations Foundation 501(c)(3). The foundation supports the mission of the South Carolina State Guard and helps units and personnel purchase necessary equipment or obtaining training.
WHOM DO I CONTACT TO PARTICIPATE OR TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THE BOOTS ON THE GROUND CAMPAIGN?
