Socrates B. (Sonny) Ledda is currently serving the Chief of Police for Clinton, SC. Sonny grew up in Goose Creek, SC and graduated from College of Charleston with a bachelor’s degree in political science. He is also a graduate of Southern Police Institute, FBI National Academy, and Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. He served in the U.S. Army as a combat engineer from 1984 to 1991, with a combat tour in Iraq. He also worked in Babylon, Iraq as an International Police Liaison Officer.
His police career began with the City of Clinton and he has served as the Chief of Police with Bishopville, S.C., Laurens Police Department, S.C. and now the City of Clinton, S.C. Additional training includes IACP Juvenile Intervention, SC Police Chiefs Association, FEMA Professional Development Series, Mid-Level Management, National Center for the Missing and Exploited Children, SC FBINA Associates, Furman Universality Riley Fellow, and Regional Executive Management Institute.
His community service includes Habitat for Humanity, Little League Baseball Coach, United Way, Boy Scouts of America, VFW, American Legion, Safe Home Board of Directors, NAACP Laurens Branch Member.
