Originally from Spartanburg, SC, Dan lives in Greer with Katie, his wife of 18 years and their three children. After graduation from Dorman High School, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Furman University and a medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). Dan joined the South Carolina State Guard in 2010, was commissioned as a Major and assigned to the Provost Marshal Detachment (PMD), where he serves as the unit physician. He has served as a volunteer, Class III South Carolina State Constable since 2012 and is an active member of the District III South Carolina State Constables Association, whose members elected him as the Director of Training since 2016.
Although dual board-certified in both general surgery and pediatric surgery, Dan practices pediatric surgery in a private practice setting. He has served on the South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners as Governor Nikki Haley’s gubernatorial member from 2014 to 2019 and served on the Board’s executive committee as secretary for two years.
Dan enjoys spending time with his family, reading nonfiction books and is an avid supporter of the Living on the Edge Christian Outreach Ministry based in Suwanee, Georgia, St. Rafka’s Catholic Church.
